Segantang Lada is a traditional song describing how many islands in this Riau Regions. 
The King want to know how many islands that he own and his assistant count it as much as "One Gantang of black pappers". Gantang is a traditional volume measure or capacity cylinder measurement equipment to measure rice. One Gantang is equivalent of 8.57 liter of liquid or 6.15kg of rice.

The faces of Pulau Akar

Pulau Akar, Batam @ Akar Island is a small Traditional Malay Fisherman Village located next to Barelang First Bridge @ The Golden Gate. The size is only 1km square inhabited with about 200 families. 100% Malay and they are very kind and welcoming. There is also a primary school and the beautiful Green Mosque. A short boat ride from Barelang Bridge will take you here. The view of wooden houses and the way of life will take you back to nostalgic of Singapore fisherman village 1950. There is a mangrove swamp at the end of the island where camping activities can be arrange.
