Pulau Akar, Batam @ Akar Island is a small Traditional Malay Fisherman Village located next to Barelang First Bridge @ The Golden Gate. The size is only 250 metres square inhabited with about 200 families. 100% Malay and they are very kind and welcoming. There is also a primary school and the beautiful Green Mosque. A short boat ride from Barelang Bridge will take you here. The view of wooden houses and the way of life will take you back to nostalgic of Singapore fisherman village 1950.
