Pulau Akar @ Akar Island is a small Malay Fisherman Traditional Village located next to Barelang First Bridge @ The Golden Gate. The size is only 1km square inhabited with about 200 families. There is also a primary school and the beautiful Green Mosque. A short boat ride from Barelang Bridge will take you here. The view of houses and the way of life will take you back to nostalgic of Singapore fisherman village 1950. There is a mangrove swamp at the end of the island where camping activities can be arrange.
