Rumput laut Rengkam famillia (keluarga) Sargassum sp. banyak terdapat di perairan Pulau Akar, Batam. Ia menjadi sumber pendapatan sampingan nelayan. Rumput laut rengkam yang kering dijual sekitar 1,300-1,400 rp sekilo, ianya sesuai dijadikan makanan binatang ternakan keranamengandungi kandungan serat, karbohidrat dan protein yang tinggi.
